Living the Fairway Life: Golf-Course Homes at Rockport Country Club
Living the Fairway Life: Golf-Course Homes at Rockport Country Club
Dreaming of Rockport living but don’t need waterfront access? You’re in luck. At Rockport Country Club (RCC), many homes are nestled right along the golf course or its green buffers, offering sweeping views, tranquil surroundings, and full access to amenities — all without the premium (or maintenance) demands of waterfront property.
Whether you're an avid golfer, nature lover, or someone seeking a quiet, upscale community with coastal charm, here’s why living on the course in Rockport is a smart lifestyle choice.
What Makes Rockport Country Club Unique
The course was designed by Bill Coore (with input from Jimmy Demaret) and opened in 1983, making it his first solo layout. It winds through upland live oaks, ponds and wetland edges, attracting birds, deer, and a quiet natural cadence. The fairways are mostly slim and the dogleg holes are short, requiring precise shot-making. The course's signature is its phenomenal greens. Many holes include water, 12 holes have water hazards, so many of the homes have water views without having to sit right on the bay.
The club operates semi-privately — membership is needed, but reciprocal privileges exist for USGA members. This helps preserve an exclusive feel while keeping some flexibility. The RCC hosts various member golf events sponsored by either the Men's Golf Association or Ladies Golf Association. There is also an onsite golf pro shop with services including individual or group lessons, so you don't have to be a pro to play here, you can learn or refresh your skills, too.
Members enjoy more than greens, the community also has a Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and tennis & pickleball courts to keep you plenty active. And after all this action, you are going to be hungry, so head on over to the relaxed atmosphere of the Copper Room Bar & Grill for a complete menu of seafood and steaks overlooking the course.
Types of Homes You’ll Find There
- Fairway and green-side homes — often backing directly to holes or adjacent to bunkers/water features
- Upland homes — still within walking or golf-cart distance, but elevated slightly for drainage and views
- Custom or semi-custom builds — many lots were designed to accommodate high-end homes that take advantage of the topography without needing waterfront frontage
If you lean toward low-maintenance yards, privacy, and scenic greens, you’ll find many lots that strike a balance between convenience, value, and prestige.
Lifestyle & Community Around Rockport Country Club
The Rockport Country Club neighborhood falls within the Rockport ISD zone and local conveniences, supply stores, and medical services are just a short drive. Though the homes themselves aren’t waterfront, you’re still a short drive to all the coastal amenities: fishing, public boat ramps, beach days, and bay-front dining. The golf course setting gives a buffer from road noise and heavier traffic of State Highway 35. Waking up to fairway views, birdsong, and gentle breezes adds a calming rhythm to daily life.
Homes on the golf course often have durable appeal — buyers who want “views plus amenities” will look here first, which tends to support resale values.
If you’re curious about homes in this community or want a custom list of golf-course-view homes, I’d love to help. Reach out and I’ll curate the perfect options for your lifestyle.
