Local Watering Restrictions
2013 Watering Schedule Beginning June 1st
Why Are We Here?
- Continued Drought
- Lake Lavon's elevation is down over 7-ft. and dropping.
- Lake Chapman supply is down almost 10-ft.
- Lake Texoma is still unavailable due to zebra mussels.
- Below average rainfall so far this year.
- Going into the summer with Lake Lavon at only 64% full.
- The goal is 10% reduction in water use
Stage 3 Water Restrictions Beginning June 1st
MANDATORY DROUGHT RESTRICTIONS
- Limit landscape watering with sprinklers or irrigation systems to once a week on assigned day, if needed.
- No outdoor watering between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
- Prohibit using water in such a manner as to allow runoff or other waste.
- Foundations, new landscaping, new plantings (first year shrubs and trees) may be watered for up to two hours on any day by a hand-held hose, a soaker hose, or a dedicated zone using a drip irrigation system.
- ET/Smart irrigation systems and drip irrigation systems must also comply with the once per week watering schedule.
- Exception - Locations using other sources of water supply for irrigation may irrigate without restrictions.
Stage 3, once per week watering, if needed.
